About St. Ephrem's Church
The Vincentian Congregation marked its presence in the capital city of India in the year 1987, by establishing a house at A-11 New Krishna Park, Vikaspuri, Delhi under the leadership of Rev Fr Thomas Emprayil V.C (Superior).
Ever since it’s beginning, the regular liturgical services in Syro-Malabar Rite were conducted at Vincentian House chapel for the Syrian Catholic followers of the neighborhood. In 1996, the house chapel was elevated as a Mass Centre within the jurisdiction of the main parish church “Church of Our Lady of Graces, Vikaspuri” by Rt. Rev. Archbishop of Delhi.
On 1st of July, 2003 the very mass centre was raised to the level of a full-fledged parish and was entrusted to the Vincentian Congregation. The new Parish was named after the great saint, St. Ephrem. The first Parish Priest of the newly established parish was Late Rev. Fr. Joseph Keezhedam VC. Seeing the increasing number of believers coming for the services in the parish, the then Parish Priest Rev Fr Varghese Karingen VC, together with the support and the encouragement from the Superior General of Vincentian Congregation and the Delhi Syro-Malabar Catholic Mission, took a giant step in constructing a bigger church in order to have enough space for the liturgical services. A dream of all those people who are directly and indirectly associated with the parish visualized on 15th August 2008, when His Grace Vincent M. Concessao, the Archbishop of Delhi laid the foundation stone for the proposed church at Shiv Vihar, Near Hastsal, Vikaspuri.
